Fans of Eat, Pray, Love or Animal, Vegetable, Miracle most likely, will also be familiar with acclaimed spiritual author and preacher, Barbara Brown Taylor, author of AN ALTAR IN THE WORLD and LEAVING CHURCH.
As a writer she has opened up the meaning of faith to include everyday living and offered ways to observe it outside of traditional Christianity. In An Altar in the World, she taught us skills for finding faith outside of the church – literally. From simple practices like walking, working or getting lost to deeper meditations. Through her expert guidance we have learned to live with purpose, pay attention, slow down and revere the world we live in.

Barbara Brown Taylor writer, “Those willing to give everything away are the ones with anything worth keeping.” In today’s society, how many of us are willing to give some of our time, treasure, and talents, nevertheless all of it! Yet those who do continually give live the most fulfilled and satisfying lives. We see these people, but we do not become like them. Taylor provides a way for us to become more spiritual, more like Christ in an age where the Church often keeps people from truly living a Christian or at least spiritual life. Though Taylor believes her words came from the Church, they are truly a gift from God meant to be shared with the world. Taylor renews the mind and spirit. She continues to be a writer worth reading, watching, and imitating in both body and soul.
