Barbara Brown Taylor writer, "Those willing to give everything away are the ones with anything worth keeping." In today's society, how many of us are willing to give some of our time, treasure, and talents, nevertheless all of it! Yet those who do continually give live the most fulfilled and satisfying lives. We see these people, but we do not become like them. Taylor provides a way for us to become more spiritual, more like Christ in an age where the Church often keeps people from truly living a Christian or at least spiritual life. Though Taylor believes her words came from the Church, they are truly a gift from God meant to be shared with the world. Taylor renews the mind and spirit. She continues to be a writer worth reading, watching, and imitating in both body and soul.

One of my favorite books of all times for sure, but it's funny, as is often the case with really important books, there are some messages that I feel are there, yet, are never really discussed. For one, the shepherd boy goes out looking for something that he already has before he even leaves--the truth is already within us without even leaving our own back yards. but the search is part of the lesson. In any case, my book is so underscored, and I turn to it, and open to any given page, and read a gem, and of course, inevitably, the universe, conspiring to teach me what I need to know, directs my attention to a passage which I needed at that moment in time. Gotta love the universe, indeed.
